Jimmy K. Pang

I grew up in a modest and very multi-cultural neighborhood in Queens. My father was a waiter in Chinatown and my mother a seamstress. And, similar to other Asians, my parents worked 24/7 so my brother, sister and I could go to college. The American dream. So, of course, our first goal after getting good jobs was to buy them a house and get them to a safe neighborhood.

But something festered inside of me. Although I have worked hard and reached all my goals at such a young age, I am blessed. I have a great job, my parents and relatives are healthy and safe, but what of other children? I want to help them have similar roads to success. I told myself, "You need to take action." So I began looking for a starting point and became an APEX mentor.

I have figured out what makes me happy in this next stage of life, and it is giving to others, giving perhaps money, or more importantly, the time to help others fulfill their dreams. Life is a relative game and there will always be those that are not as lucky as I am. I'm going to spend time exploring and learning how to do this even better and bigger.
