Midori Shimanouchi Lederer

I wasn't so good to my parents so now I want to give back and make up for that. I care about our old people, especially those who are not doing well. That's why I started Japanese American Social Services, Inc. Sometimes, I think rich Asians don't understand the experience of the poor. For me, heart in leadership is so important and the reason why I volunteer all my time and donate to only those I know and trust. This includes the Museum of Chinese in the Americas, the Asian American Federation and the Japanese American National Museum. But I also give to mainstream organizations and cultural institutions. I even give to street people...it really slows me down on my way to work.
